Major universities and colleges from all regions in Canada participate in The Canada-Japan Co-op Program. The Canada-Japan Co-op Program in Canada is the only country consortium modeled international co-op placement program. Canadian universities who participate in the program are offered the chance to promote their institution to a broader international market and work towards establishing links to Japanese companies in Japan.
Canadian undergraduate students who are enrolled in a Co-op program from participating educational institutions across Canada spend up to 12 months living and working in Japan. This program provides Canadian undergraduate students the ability to gain hands-on experience in Japanese industry. Students from across Canada have the opportunity to develop lasting contacts and lifelong friendships with other Canada-Japan Co-op students and colleagues in Japan. This international experience provides students with a practical understanding of corporate Japan that can enhance future career opportunities.
Students from educational institutions across Canada in varied disciplines participate in the Canada-Japan Co-op Program. Students in the following disciplines have participated in the program over the years:

Over 80 manufacturing and industry based companies in Japan have welcomed hundreds Canada-Japan Co-op students since 1991 into their labs, research facilities, production plants and work places. Companies in Japan have access to the proven problem solving abilities of our highly skilled and motivated students. Canada-Japan Co-op placements provide an excellent opportunity for companies to enhance their internationalization activities, learn about the Canadian education system, and offer potential to establish joint research ventures with Canadian universities.
